Suggested process...

When renewing a passport and/or ID card at anytime, your last fingerprints need to have been taken less than 5 years ago. If more than 5 years, they will need to be re-taken. Please contact the Embassy in Canberra to confirm when your fingerprints were last taken.
You may need to travel to the embassy or be advised of the next passport mission i.e. where an embassy representative makes a special annual visit to a city to accept applications and take fingerprints as needed.
